Chinese technology firm Huawei launches Mediapad to compete against ipad in Asia

Making its global debut at this week’s Communic Asia trade fair in Singapore, Chinese technology firm Huawei’s MediaPad sports Qualcomm’s dual-core 1.2GHz processor. The market is already awash with models such as Samsung’s Galaxy Tab, the HTC FlyerTM by Taiwan’s leading smartphone maker HTC and the ZTE Light tablet by Chinese manufacturer ZTE in addition to Western brands such as the BlackBerry Playbook by Canada’s Research in Motion

By one estimate, Asia will account for about a third of tablet sales by 2015, triggering a race for market share by big and unknown brands alike.

Industry research firm “Gartner has said” the iPad accounted for a hefty major share 84 percent of the total 17.6 million tablets sold worldwide in 2010, with that share tipped to decline to 69 percent of 70 million to be sold this year.

A person in india was electrocuted after coming in contact with a “made-in-China mobile phone” in the Panchmahal district of Gujarat, police said on Tuesday. Cheap china made mobile phones have flooded the Indian markets due to its low price and affordability in India. According to reports in from retailers, In India often small retailers sell Chinese made cheaper alternative goods but always advise customers to buy at their own risk and don’t give any guarantee for these goods.

"Twenty-five-year-old Dhanji Damor, got electrocuted at Muktanand Bungalow Society while attempting to make a phone call from a made-in-China mobile plugged in for charging," they said.
After the shock, he was rushed to a hospital but the doctors there declared him brought dead, police said.

It is recommended not to use a phone while it is charging generally as a safety precautionary measure , but most countries have a safety standard to meet and Mobile phones should not leak electricity.

$35 tablets to launch in INDIA

According to latest media reports, the low-cost $35 tablet codenamed ‘Sakshat’ is expected to launch by the end of this month.

India to launch cheap $35 USD tablet

The 7-inch touchscreen tablet will come with inbuilt keyboard, video conferencing facility, multimedia content, Wi-Fi and USB port

India’s answer to the $100 laptops developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will be powered by Linux OS and is made by HCL Technologies.

Specs for the $35 TABLET

The 7-inch touchscreen tablet will come with inbuilt keyboard, video conferencing facility, multimedia content, Wi-Fi, USB port, 32GB hard drive and 2GB RAM. The tablet will support Open Office, SciLab and Internet browsing.

The low cost tablet was full of controversies, ever since it was announced back in July last year. It was supposed to be launched by January 2011, but was met with lot of hurdles in its way. HCL, which had initially won the tender for producing 1 million units of Sakshat was booted out, which in turn delayed the launch by 6 more months.

The tablet is planned to cost Rs 2,200. In INR but reports claim that the government later plans to further subsidise the cost by 50 per cent which means the device may cost somewhere around Rs 1,100.
